Walter's mother died when he was two, and his father was always gone.
As a result, the family has only a few photos of Walter from 1922 to 1942.

1937: Walter doing a radio show on WKNY in Kingston, New York with Gene Clark. The show was called "What`s the Name of
that Song?" They would play and sing the song omitting the title line, and the listeners had to guess the name of the song. They awarded movie tickets to the winners.
